In 2002 I drove from San Diego up to Seattle to play a small stage near the entrance of The Gorge Amphitheatre before gates opened on a weekend of shows with Dave Matthews Band. On the second day, Dave came out and bogarted my stage to play a few of his songs — that bogarted set garnered us a lot of attention and made it a defining moment in my career. See an interview of this story in the forthcoming documentary, Enormous: The Gorge Story.
Hallelujah! The season of Sara Bareilles’ new album is upon us! This is way better than hearing Christmas music too early.
In fact, Sara is one of the best live vocalists I’ve ever heard AND she happens to be one of the best lyricists of our generation. Her new album, ‘What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress,’ is evident of these declarations as she’s written and recorded a new musical based on one of my favorite cult films, Waitress. I had the pleasure of singing a few of Dr Pomatter’s lines against Sara’s brilliantly vast vocal range. You can download it here now.
For those who know Sara, she is sharp, quick witted, hilarious, and intelligent. While this is a concept album of sorts, it still manages to showcase who she is and what she is capable of. ‘What’s Inside’ is the work of a true artist and is sure to become a classic. I am honored to be a part of it.
Thank you, Sara!
#TBT to the day I was made the luckiest man in the world. Thank you everyone for all the kind congrats.
To give love you have to be love. Love is an inside job.
