Back To The Earth

June 20, 2014

As I travel the world, I am meeting more and more people who are curious about their food supply and interested in growing their own. Many people ask, where do I start? Well, there are many exciting ways to kneel and kiss the ground. But it always starts with a seed. And that seed is you!

The Multinational Exchange for Sustainable Agriculture (MESA) is a grassroots nonprofit based in Berkeley, CA. Their mission is to connect and grow the next generation of food and farming leaders in a one-of-a-kind program that bridges ancestral knowledge with sustainable innovation. The impact is both local and global!

They have helped to start 142 new farms and food justice projects in 16 countries, and their efforts to spread sustainable farming continues.

Why does sustainable agriculture matter? Whether we live in the city or country, where food comes from and who grows it is connected to all of us. Food is one of our closest relationships to the planet and to other people. As I learned from one MESA steward, it’s about nurturing life and nurturing ourselves. Sustainable agriculture allows us to grow food in abundance without damaging our health or the health of the planet.

I’m very inspired by their vision for land, food and culture and think you will be too. Help me help MESA’s awesome work to grow a new generation of farmers! I recently donated to their work and look forward to learning more from MESA’s alum!

If you have 4 minutes, check out the video, “You Are the Seed” to learn more about MESA’s awesome farm stewards, and how they are helping to enrich and restore our precious environment through the cultivation and care of our food. Thank you.

Mine, too :) I love those songs, too. Everywhere and Shine. They go hand in hand. Lovely, Lovely, Lovely indeed. Subatomic is what we are at the speed of light zooming in and out of all love in all life throughout all life. Shine, shine, shine. What a shine <3 <3 <3

    Good morning boy and girls!

Said “Yes!” to “Yes!” going on three times now. Personal favorites: “Everywhere” and “Shine.”
Purdy please don’t leave them out when you play in San Antonio!

Also, I was fairly sure I had heard “It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday” before, and thought, “Why’s he doing covers? He’s got loads of songs he could have put on the CD.”

But truly, what a perfect showcase for your gorgeous voice.

See you soon in a theater near me!

    Love

I LOVE you for putting your Grammy’s in the toilet!

The significance of it is not lost on me…

That line reminds me of a song I know:

“Oh I’m in so far to know
the measure of love ain’t lost,
Love will never ever be lost on me”

I’m quoting the Disney side of the double-entendre’s, not the adult side.

    See you in San Antonio!

    Love

I am so happy that you, Mr. Mraz, make time to sit down and write beautiful words for us to read.

It makes you less of an entity and more of a friend.

In addition to ~I am thankful~ It is necessary to add: anima Aminah mania fain tufa mina min mantua

Perfectly appropriate, I’ll say. But WHO on Earth could agree with ME ???

I’m going to give you this…so you can keep figuring this out on your own.

It has become harder and harder to get through the “shit” we’ve piled UP on this planET; WordPlay is the ONLY way to cut through it…so, SO…:)

    ~I am thankful~

    I need to ask you:

What would it feel like to come face to face with another human being with whom you have 100 PERCENT communication? Would it be more than you can bear? So far, it has seemed to be so. Yet, I continue to strive toward that encounter…for GOD’s sake. Sometimes, regardless of “outer” appearances, you just KNOW. Regardless of what “others” may think…Regardless of the criticism and cynicism…&&& DOUBTS.

To grow my own food is one of the most important experiences i made in my life. I started five years ago with a very small garden. Now i have three of this gardens and gardening has become an every day’s joy and “burden”. I feel connected with the earth and the weather and i am grateful for tomatoes in different colours and shapes, berries, chillies, salads and all the other stuff i’m harvesting.
Thanks for giving me so much inspiration – to do my own things and to never give up. LOVE

  • Funny how when you talk about your penis and dreaming you receive tons of comments. Yet when you are talking about one of the most important things there is…I’m lucky. Jason, I do not know you. I do not know what you look like. I do not know what you smell like. I do not know what you feel like. I have been told and it makes me jealous. I would give anything to know, for myself. I do know what I feel like. When I see you, sometimes I have to look away (even think away) but that’s ok. I will never give up. You are the toughest most brilliant soul ever created. Wrapped up in a body of perfection,(yes perfection! oh my) protection, hope and desire. Yes, I desire you! In the most natural loving way imaginable. I’m sad sometimes when I cant look at you. I am frustrated during others and even entertained at times. Then there are those times when I stare so deeply into your eyes my mind begins to look right through. I wish I knew what to do. I am here and I cant wait to see you, and smell your neck! EVERYTHING!

    Thanks for everything <3<3<3
