I love the little clips of live from the studio. Thank you for the share.

When you dry out of ink, for sure, you are welcome to “borrow” mine. Here is my observation on a good piece of work: While the technical devices and genres are the flesh and bones, Senses (Story) are its soul. Then regarding to a good poem or good lyrics, the precise Verb matters and the second importance is the right Noun. We all sense the same way about the good things in the world from those differences.

A good piece allowed in my small sized long-term memory disk is that the one “borrow” the appropriate image/ analogy/ metaphor and put the story in (Sense-Associate-Dig). For example, to discuss the inescapable necessity to make choices, such as Robert Frost – The Road Not Taken (1916) “…Two roads Diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that had made all the difference.” A poem saying to seize a day, Andrew Marvell – To His Coy Mistress (1681) “…Thorough the iron gates of life. Thus, though we cannot make our sun. Stand still, yet we will make him Run.” About the paradoxes for art& the reality and indicate that the art is permanent, John Keats – Ode on a Grecian Urn (1820) “…And, little town, thy streets for evermore. Will silent be; and not a soul to tell. Why thou art desolate can e’er return.” In eastern culture, there a thing to express that miss someone in a reserved way is “red bead”, it’s not only because of this red heart-shape but also it’s originally from the ancient poet Wang-Wei who was an official in Tang Dynasty (731) that he uses the jequirity to express his congratulation to a long faraway friend. His poem, “When those red berries come in springtime, Flushing on your southland branches, Take home an armful, for my sake, As a symbol of love.”

I forgot the exactly timing when I heard “I’m yours”, but I remembered the first impression captured that there a boy checking his tongue in the mirror and also stole his sister’s hair spray and occupied the bathroom for a too long time, just to make himself a killer. The Visualized images interested me that a flawed protagonist is more compelling than a perfect one. Same thing happened to Who’s Thinking about You Now? The first time I heard only few words jump into my ears are “Déjà vu…When our two hands are linked together with an ampersand. It’s my kind of diagram…” Also for “Only Human” – A squirrel in the tree, Murderous crow…the planet’s talking about a revolution…back in 1923, thirty meters and a foot, take a look, take a climb, What you’ll find is the product of a seed….” It allures me to do a bit survey about the song, and when I realized something weird that these songs rest in my heart for a bit too long time. (I can even see my dear friend’s teeth out a laugh now. Don’t forget to close your mouth! )

The power of Verb and Noun in the poem/ lyrics: Sting – A Thousand Years (good version is accompanied by the royal philharmonic concert orchestra, live in Berlin 2010), “…stairway Climbs to a tower of souls…or I could Ride with kings and Conquer many lands…or win this world at Card and let it Slip my hands… ” and similar story concept can be reflected to Coldplay – Viva La Vida (rock in Rio 2011, sometimes I wonder is it relative difficult for the performance in the outdoor arena than in the indoor dome. Are the technical gears for the sounds and light and the stage setting are affected more? ) The song, “…I used to Roll the Dice, feel the Fear in my enemy’s eyes, listen as the Crowd would Sing, “Now the old king is dead long Live the king!” Short simple song with right verbs and nouns can work too, such as the hope in Three Little Birds from Bob Marley.

A well-reputed lyric writer in my local who said he usually puts a dictionary on his desk during his songwriting. Here is one of my common use and recommended one – Roget’s 21st Century Thesaurus in Dictionary Form which includes 500,000 synonyms and antonyms yield over 1 million word choices- The fastest access to scores of new choices. Sometimes, I stole some good Verbs from the classic poems: Part Three: Poetry in twelfth edition, An Introduction to Literature.

“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. “- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I wouldn’t dare to say the word Perfection, a big flag on the shoulder, but I agree that a good piece of work is that Not a single letter can be deleted. Or it could be more like what Ernest Hemingway said “If a writer of prose knows enough of what he is writing about he may omit things that he knows and the reader, if the writer is writing truly enough, will have a feeling of those things as strongly as though the writer had stated them. The dignity of movement of an ice-berg is due to only one-eighth of it being above water. A writer who Omits things because he does not know them only makes hollow places in his writing. “- Death in the Afternoon. In between of these standards that exist inside of the creator quietly; therefore, I imagine that the birth of a good piece of work requires patiently making 99% efforts on the consideration and 1% occasional experimental inspiration.

However, since I don’t know how to play an instrument, I wonder which comes first, melody or lyrics? I love the melody of Sade’s Soldier of Love, before I know the lyrics; this melody creates a picture in my mind like the structure is correctly built up that might tell the narrator and story possibly lead. Same sense to Update #1 anyway refreshes me that some electronic music (like the chili kicking in the wonderful cuisine), breakbeat hardcore genres, such as Moby – Play (1999) & Radiohead – Creep (1992). However, I know little about the music, for any possibility-trying; stay healthy and have fun time!

Last, one my loved quote: “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. “- Rainer Maria Rilke

ps. Based on truth and love and those good values: Sigmund Freud’s On Narcissism: An introduction, if someone have a minute to stop by the British Museum, don’t forget to check out the level 3, room 62-63, Egyptian death and afterlife, there presents a beautiful living art, a handsome, charming and lovely… Mummy! oh, and his cat. I bet he will love his other reflection. xoxo

Oh…. Too cute. I’m melting! ~ Many kids have quite divine views and ideas! Sadly … most blessed, bored kids with the ‪#‎real‬ views of ‪#‎love‬ and ‪#‎change‬ in this world, can not financially collaborate their inspiring ideas, or they wouldn’t be bored. It is a lovely message here though from – Soul Pancake =D
