I agree that the two party system is a device to give people the impression they have a choice.
I heard on Australian TV today that there is a record increase in poverty under Obama.
The figure head politicians are the puppets to the real power brokers. They’re chosen for their charisma – they’ve always been able to persuade well meaning entertainers to endorse and promote them, whether it is formally or informally.
But the facade is crumbling and more people are recognising it. It will all come out in the end and music like Jason’s is contributing to that change.
You have some very insightful observations, which just shows that simplistic reductions of issues just doesn’t cut it. The link you shared has info with major ramifications for Hawaii, and the rest of us too, that will not even be discussed in this presidential campaign. Thanks again.
I certainly think that Obama is the best choice of the presented candidates. However there are two things in general that I ponder about.
1. There is a difference between decreasing military and just moving it around. Like right now, the US is talking about intervening in Syria. Unless the majority of the public in a foreign country specifically asks for military aid from specifically the US (as opposed from the UN), I don’t think the US should ever intervene anywhere, unless US wants others to invade your backyard.
2. The division of powers in the US is off, where it seems according to my experience, that the Lawenforcement agencies play their own game, where there are courts stating; “it is up to DHS discretion”, ie arbitrary, random, personal opinionated officers making and executing decisions directly impacting the foundation of people’s lives. I’d like to se a rejuvenation of courts with a proper review over these agencies. And then there is of course the time gap between political speeches and reality, that has yet to unfold for much of what has been presented.
Real musicians sing about issues that matters to them…whether it’s love, life, family or things they see around them, why is it so surprising that politics would be one of them?
Making a stand and stating one’s view is hardly a simple Democratic Vs Republican comparison. As far as I can see, the points are as valid as it can get to what’s important to anyone.
Bottom line, politics are not just for the politicians. Everyone MUST make a stand and have their voices heard.
I hope we can all agree to disagree. We don’t have to share the same politics to appreciate the same music. Music is so much more powerful than politics anyway.
In my view Jason is endorsing Obama by offering simplistic reductions of very complex issues. Some of these can reasonably be looked at from VERY different angles than how he is presenting them.
To me, the whole two party system as a rigged game that is intended to give us the illusion of choice. It is a system that is failing. Maybe this is a good thing, because it is now becoming more widely understood that genuinely effective political action can only come from people at the roots-iest of grass-roots level – raising our own consciousness and trying to set an example of compassion and peace in our relationships with our families and communities.
Jason has reached so high with his music. I think he should try to reach higher than Democrat vs. Republican with his politics.
We need Obama in Russia
I’d vote for him too!

Instagram: If that’s the machine (what IS that?!!!) that recorded “Sleep All Day,” it’s worth as much to us as it is to you.
Love, and Godspeed to New Orleans.
Do it…vote!
This was a reply to “bsherman11″; the reply button doesn’t seem to work for me.

Sorry.

Cheers, for treeisafourletterword! LOVE it! I wish that phone number worked for Europe as well.
