The world as youtube see it

November 13, 2011

As I travel the globe, countries begin to feel geographically closer to one another. This has little to do with plate tectonics. What I’m beginning to see are more cases of people recognizing each other as if part of the same community. Like one big family. It’s as if humans were orphaned here on Earth and after years of asking questions finally have the means to share their findings and experiences.

While our iphone & ipad addictions may seem costly even insofar as it fragmenting the cultural paradigm, the transparency through these new tech formats is taking us to such great lengths that it’s bringing us around again.

Races and religions that perhaps never thought would mix now work together. People of completely different backgrounds and bone structure sit beside each other on airplanes. They holiday in the same tourist destinations. They surf the same waves, protest the same evils, drink the same water and if they choose, they share the same bed. A person’s accent or skin tone no longer offers a clue as to who may be standing in front of you. Stereotypes are fading as sure as our economies are collapsing. This I AM seeing.

And though we may still be far off from having the answers to solving the world’s crisis, tools such as the film embedded here bring us light years closer to understanding who, why, and what we are.

Life In A Day is a historic film capturing for future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010. In my opinion it offers so much more than that. Consider yourself part of that future generation and be captivated by this extraordinary, endearing, non-bias, heartbreaking and sometimes hilarious view of our planet as it is right now.

Executive produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.

That video was really deep, but it was so simple. It’s weird how the most down to earth things, like a bunch of clips of normal things, can enlighten you. Made mah day. Thanks fur sharing(:

I always judge a good film or a good book by the memories they leave behind. I just can’t get this one out of my head. It makes me feel like we all belong here, together. And of course, we do.

I always think about strangers in the world… I’m just curious…
We all are different, but we are all connected.

And in the same way, here we are Mraz fans from all over the globe united in this community.
I’m just happy being here, reading what everyone post and you, Jason, of course.
Thank you for being such an amazing musician, and an incredible human being.
You are such a big inspiration for me.
    I love you.

I enjoyed seeing this. Reminded me that we all have monumental moments of wonder and love, as well as underlying worries about wolves coming in the fall. Even if our wolves take the form of mediocrity they can still be scary. The lesson, so I’ve been told, is to appreciate your own challenges. You probably wouldn’t trade them for someone else’s. As always, thanks for the share.

I’ve heard about Life In A Day! I may not have time to finish the movie right now but I’m really looking forward to it!!!:D
Sometimes I just love that the technologies just bring people together, not apart. I may not have seen as much as you do, but thanks to technologies I can read this journal, although I live across the ocean :)
Thank you for sharing your thought with us. You are a big inspiration to me. :D
    Thank you.

This documentary film is truly amazing. I enjoy being connected with people all around the world. And this film helps me understand how beautiful is our planet and people on her. No matter from where they come or if they are poor or rich. Everything depends on their soul.

I am gratitude for being part of this wonderful place.

    Thank you.

Beautifully done, thanks for ceaselessly encouraging the dreamings. As as older fan (following you since early 2000) I see you dissolve the generation gaps so lovingly in my own life. The admiration of Jason magic has been a thread so strong for my daugher and I, there are times it has become a bungee when we’ve strayed to far from one another and a common source of healing in times of great challenge. During 2010 I had the privelge of caring for my 2 yr. old grand nephew for 6 months and he was so delighted with MY response to your performance with Elmo on a DVD I rented, he quickly started dancing and singing with me. Every time I would pick up my guitar he would jump up and down and shout “Jason Mraz !” I quickly learned that I was no substitute for you & Elmo. I bought the DVD for him and it is still often played. My respect for you rose to John Denver status with this one. Hayden is now 3, healthy, home with Mom and still mentions you when we speak…Grateful for it all!

In my opinion, we do not have to travel to get to know the world. It is enough if you eyes open and observing the environment. The people are the same as where we are. Whether it is to look out where we live, because basically everyone feels the same, think the same. We are the Same and in fact one. The only difference lies in the impact we had.

I’ve just saved some ‘space’ for myself this Sunday and now I’ve just finished watching this documentary.
Well it’s absolutely more than worth it to watch it.
And Jason I totally agree with you about our amazing hi-tech tools. They make us feel as powerful as super-heroes but, at the same time, they connect us as one in every moment of the day in live transmission.
What charmed me most watching this film was to find out that we differ so much one by another but at the same time we do share same emotions, same fears, same needs. We surprisingly show all these things in the same way whether we live in a no-where located small house or in a metropolis, poor or rich..and so on.
I may eagerly go on and on…!
I’ve loved this amazing film and I’m gonna share it as much as I can.
    Thank you :)
